First off let me say what a lucky find it was coming across this company! I just googled bike rack because I have never bought one before and happened upon them! They’re tutorials are amazing and I must also think the other customers for writing reviews that were so extremely helpful! The customer service here is fantastic! They got right back to me! I bought the Hollywood trail rider to bike rack ( with some good advice from customer reviews and customer service) I also purchased the anti-rattle hitch lock and cable for it. The order came extremely quickly, very well packaged, and even follow up emails from etrailer letting me know it was coming and that it should have arrived I know some people in the reviews had problems with it, we have not. We have used it for about a week and a half now on and off on two different vehicles. Works perfect! It also fits on our third vehicle if we want to use it on that. Love that it came with four of the same keys! Great product so far have had for about two weeks !

Hi! Your very welcome, your company is fantastic! Love all the tutorials, they were so helpful in making my purchase. And the reps that answered all my questions were so helpful and nice! I recommend etrailer to everyone! Everything is holding up terrific! We love the rack and accessories! One of the Velcro straps started peeling apart and your rep gave me the info for Hollywood and they were great! Sent me extra and received it right away. Looking forward to more purchases in the future! Have a great day!!

I wanted a "capture the tire" Hitch carrier for a truck. After searching the web, I came onto your Sport Rider model by Hollywood, and after viewing the video, bought it.
After one year of use, I still am very glad that I went with this model. I also purchased the Anti-rattle Hitch lock and cable lock for my bike too. Like the idea of being able to lock the Bike rack to the truck for peace of mind. They all work well as a set!!! I Highly would suggest getting this particular model and lock.

Love it still. Have it hanging on my garage wall till we need it again. Great product for the money.

by:

awesome lock set! The keyed alike hitch pin and cable with 4 keys are a great design idea. Also, the lock for the hitch pin can just be snapped onto the pin and secured without having the key inserted. I also have a Rocky Mounts Rack and that requires the key to be inserted and in the unlocked position to secure it on the hitch pin. Hollywood does it better!

Great addition to a great bike rack!

by:

Very simp;e to use and provides good se curity.

This is the best website and best service I have received in years. I honestly can't say how it could have been better. I would encourage others to talk to the rep as when I did I was directed to choices that were better for my needs than the ones I had chosen based just on the website. There are a lot of details on the site, which makes one think that is all you need, but when I spoke to the rep I discovered many other issues that helped me make a better choice. Thanks.

Perfect! ETrailer will always be my go-to source for trailering needs. I find the videos and descriptions incredibly helpful and the customer service is the best.

by:

Good service by eTrailer and I am happy with the hitch lock. I' d rate the hitch lock a 5. However, I was hoping for something a bit more integrated with the cable lock. Having bought the same brand rack and lock, there is not a an easy way to lock the cable to the rack, a welded loop would have been good. Granted you wouldn't expect the cable to be more than a nuisance to slow down opportunistic theft. Seems like it wouldn't take much of a redesign effort to fix this. I rate the cable as a 2 due to this for a 3.5 overall.

by:

We purchased this rack for our Plug-in Prius because we wanted an easier way to get bikes on the car. It has worked like a charm. Very well designed and solidly fabricated. Also easy to install and uninstall. We have had fun moments waiting in line for ferries, with two bikes on the Hollywood in back, and two kayaks on top. It is something of a show stopper.

Though Toyota does not recommend installing hitches, it is not clear what the problem is because it has worked well.

by:

Two keys and a cable lock work as designed. Great price too!

I discovered I did not need this product as a cable, lock and hitch pin is included in the Hollywood Racks bike rack that I purchased. We now have a dedicated lock for the rack and we'll use the extra cable to secure our bikes when we are out and about on our bikes.

by:

Purchased a hitch, bike platform rack, and locking pin device along with locking cable from etrailer to enjoy traveling all over with my mountain bike and am Very happy with the quality. I looked at lots of other companies products on-line, but etrailer seemed to not only have everything I need, but the pricing was Very reasonable also. I will be a future customer, and will highly recommend others to check out there products!

by:

Lockable hitch pin was too short for Class 4 Hitch and cable lock has already failed. It will no long allow you to push closed with out using the Key to hold latch open.

by:

I bought this locking linch pin and cable set to replace the one that came with the bike rack. I lost the linch pin lock to the first set. While I could have just ordered a replacement linch pin and lock, I decided to order the whole set so that the same key operates both linch pin and cable. I was happy with the first set and am equally happy with the replacement set.

Just received my lock and Trail Rider hitch rack yesterday. Really like both so far after using them this morning to haul our two mountain bikes to a segment of our Cross Florida Greenway trail. The bikes ride rock-solid and there's very little rack twist or wobble underway. The rack is much easier to mount bikes on than our Thule that we use for our heavy ebikes. With the Trail Rider we simply "drop" each bike into its respective wheel holders, depress the corresponding hook to the top tube, and secure each Velcro strap to the wheels. Done. Also a breeze removing the bikes at the trail and at home. No worries of theft with the lock that affixes the hitch bolt to the hitch receiver. And the eight-foot cable with its own lock (one key for both locks) allows us to attach both bikes to the receiver.

My only quibbles concern some fiddling necessary to assemble the wheel holders on the rack and the adjustment of each, and the dependance on those Velcro wheel straps. They're on the short side, so there's only about an inch and a half of hook-and-loop adhesion. Not a huge deal, but I've purchased four longer Velcro straps to supplement. You could also use shock cord.

All in all a good buy and just one-fourth the cost of our Thule, but of course this Trail Rider won't carry heavy ebikes. etrailer delivered in three days, no shipping fee or tax. I'd buy from etrailer again if only because of the great, informative web site.

Since we still have snow, I have not had a chance to use the bike rack yet. Putting it together was rather simple. I did discover an error in the listing of parts; N on page one shows two bolts, four washers, and nut. The four washers are not included in the parts package and were not necessary since nuts had a rubber insert. Figure 2 also depicts this error. Your listing of parts also contains this error.

All the wheel holders but one were easy to slide on the wheel tubes. One was very difficult to install; I had to remove some of the plastic on the holder to make it work.

Other than these items, rack seems very solid. Anxious to give it a trial run.

by:

I recently leased a new vehicle and the car salesman ordered a (1.25" receiver) trailer hitch for my Hollywood bike rack. After removing the 2" adapter plate that fit my previously leased vehicle's trailer hitch, I discovered that the locking hitch pin wouldn't work with my new set up. I immediately searched etrailer.com for a new locking hitch pin and found exactly what I needed. The site is easy to navigate and every item clearly states what works with it. The prices can't be beat, shipping is super fast, and customer service is awesome!

by:

Lock worked as stated - just had difficulty when it came to placing the lock inside of the trailer hitch - couldn't fit the key in very easily the way the hitch was set up. I had to unlock it from underneath - lucky it wasn't winter!!

by:

I've actually purchased e few items for etrailer. Even though I made a mistake in ordering the wrong thing because of a lack of detail on my part, a fellow at etrailer (wish I could remember his name) sent me the correct part within a day.
Now, if I need anything remotely related to trailer parts or accessories, I check their website first.
Their attention to detail is better than mine, and the service is amazing.

by:

After searching many bike and hardware stores I finally found the perfect pin and lock system for my bike carrier with etrailer.
I am totally pleased with purchase.

by:

I didn't realize the bike rack came with a hitch lock so now I have 2 plus a 9 ft cable with key lock. This was not necessary as the rack hold down hooks have keyed locks.

by:

The anti rattle hitch pin lock and cable work just fine. My husband thought it would be nice if the cable was a little longer.

by:

The lock set is great. Easy to use and securely locks the rack onto the hitch and the bikes onto the rack. And it came with 4 keys!!!

by:

Works great with the Hollywood rack I purchased. I use the cable lock on the pin and the pin lock on the cable looped through two bikes and the rack.

by:

Product arrived just as expected. More importantly, the customer service I experienced when needing help choosing what I needed in terms of a bike rack was the best ever. Concise, complete, and very helpful!

  • Comparing Weight and Functions of Hollywood Racks Trail Rider and Swagman XC Bike Rack
The Hollywood Racks Trail Rider 2-Bike Rack # HR200 weighs about 35 lbs. The Swagman XC 2-Bike Rack # S64650 is lighter at about 26 lbs. The biggest difference between the two is the Swagman rack is rated for 2 bikes at 35 lbs each and the Hollywood Trail Rider is rated for two bikes up to 45 lbs each. The Swagman rack will offer slightly less bumper clearance and the maximum wheel base is 8-1/2 inches shorter than the Hollywood Racks option. My recommendation between the two is the...

RV approved means the rack has been constructed to withstand the extra forces that come with being on the rear of the RV. Forces that it would not encounter on the rear of your passenger vehicle. All of this makes it a very bumpy ride at the rear of your RV compared to the rear of your car, truck, or SUV. Your rack will have to be RV approved to work. The...
